Job guarantee courses: 12 questions to ask before you pay.

A guarantee is only as good as the contract behind it. Ask any program these 12 questions and get every answer in writing. Ours are below, word for word, with the clause each one comes from.

Key takeaways

  • The contract decides, not the ad. Ask for the agreement before you pay, and read its definitions of “completing”, “placed” and “qualifying job”.
  • Follow the money: what you pay before a job, whether a loan or lender is involved, and exactly when and how anything comes back.
  • Pin down the job: which jobs count, the minimum salary, and whether you can say no.
  • The law is on your side: India’s guidelines on coaching ads have applied since 13 Nov 2024, and regulators have fined coaching institutes for misleading claims.13

Send these 12 questions to any program before you pay, and ask for the answers in writing.

The money

  1. Is this a loan? Is a bank, NBFC or lender involved?

Some “pay later” courses are loans: a lender pays the institute, and you owe instalments whatever happens to your job search. A credit check or a loan agreement means you’re borrowing.

no lender, no credit check and no interest, written into the contract.

    Our answer, in writing

No. There’s no lender, bank or finance company: you pay us, for our own training, in 9 fixed payments, and only after you start earning. No credit check, no interest, and nothing is reported to credit bureaus; we never sell or pass your payments to a lender without your written consent. The amount is fixed, never a share of your salary, and paying early never costs more.

    • No lender, bank or interest
    • No credit check or credit bureau
    • A fixed amount, never a share of your salary

  2. What exactly do I pay before I have a job?

“Pay after placement” can still mean a large fee upfront. Ask for the full amount due before any job, GST included, in writing.

a small, stated amount, and what happens to it.

    Our answer, in writing

Only the registration, GST included: ₹15,999 on Go, ₹19,999 on Plus or ₹39,999 on Infinity. All of it comes back, GST included, when you complete the program. The main fee starts only after you join a qualifying job and your first salary arrives. Prefer one payment? “Pay once” pays the whole program fee today instead of a registration, for less than you’d pay after you’re hired; it comes back only if you complete the program and aren’t placed. 3. When does that money come back, and how?

A refund promise is only real with conditions you can meet, a deadline and the way it’s paid back.

conditions you control, a deadline in days, paid back the way you paid.

    Our answer, in writing

When you complete the program: the 6 core modules, 5 capstones in 15 days, the competency test and signing the agreement within 30 days (on Infinity, also 75% live-class attendance). All of it comes back, GST included, within 15 working days of signing. Refund policy

    • 100%, GST included
    • Within 15 working days of signing

  4. What if I stop midway?

Programs differ on what you lose if life gets in the way. Better to know now than three months in.

a plain answer, saying what comes back and what doesn’t.

    Our answer, in writing

Your registration reserves your place from the day you pay (on Infinity, one of your batch’s limited seats), so it comes back only when you complete. If you cancel or stop, even before your access starts, or don’t complete within your completion window, it isn’t refunded and the ₹0 promise doesn’t apply; a payment made with “Pay once” isn’t refunded either. You keep the core modules, and you owe nothing after placement. If serious illness or something beyond your control stops you, write to us with proof: we may extend your window, and on Infinity you can use Pause & Play. Money taken by mistake (paid twice, or a failed payment that left your account) always comes back.

    • Your place is held from the day you pay
    • You keep the core modules
    • More time if illness stops you

The job

  1. Which jobs count as a placement?

This is where most guarantees hide their catch. If an internship, a contract or a low-paid job counts, the guarantee is easy to meet on paper.

full-time roles in the field you trained for, and a written list of what doesn’t count.

    Our answer, in writing

A full-time job in data science, analytics, AI/ML, BI or software work that uses data, with fixed annual pay at or above your minimum salary assured, that you accept within 12 months of signing the agreement (and join within 90 days after those 12 months end, if it starts later). It counts whether we arranged it or you found it, anywhere in India, remote or abroad.

    • A full-time job
    • In data science, analytics, AI/ML or BI
    • At or above your minimum salary assured

    In writingAgreement 2.2Agreement 2.4

Contracts, internships, apprenticeships, freelance work and self-employment, and any job that pays below your minimum salary assured. None of them starts the fee after placement. Once your payments have started, a later full-time job in the field restarts them at any pay (What if I lose the job?).

    • Contracts and internships
    • Anything below your minimum
    • None of these starts the fee

    In writingAgreement 2.2Agreement 8.2

  2. Is there a minimum salary, in writing?

Without a written floor, any offer can be called a placement.

a number in the contract, and how “salary” is measured.

    Our answer, in writing

The line your job’s pay must clear before anything is due after placement: ₹6 LPA on Go; ₹9 LPA or your salary + 35%, whichever is higher, on Plus; and ₹12 LPA or your salary + 85%, whichever is higher, on Infinity. A job below it never starts the fee. The salary option uses the fixed pay on your last 3 payslips when you complete, if it’s ₹25 LPA or less and you share them.

    • Measured on fixed annual pay
    • Below it, the fee never starts
    • A threshold, not a salary promise

  3. Can I turn down an offer?

Some programs count an offer you refuse as a placement, or charge you for refusing.

you can say no without paying or losing support.

    Our answer, in writing

Yes, as many as you like. Turning down an offer, even a qualifying one, costs you nothing. You can also skip up to 50 of the interviews we arrange, and skipped ones still count towards your interviews assured.

    • Turn down as many as you like
    • Skip up to 50 interviews
    • Skipped ones still count

    In writingAgreement 6.1Agreement 6.2

  4. What do I get after I complete?

“Placement support” can mean a job board. Ask what’s included, how much of it, and for how long.

a list with numbers: interviews, mock interviews, a counsellor and how long support lasts.

    Our answer, in writing

Interviews assured (30 on Go, 100 on Plus, and unlimited until you’re hired on Infinity), mock interviews, help with your resume, LinkedIn and GitHub, and a career counsellor. Career support lasts until your first qualifying job on Go; Plus adds 1-Year Career Security; Infinity adds 5-Year Career Security & Upgrade (once a year for 5 years, help moving to a better-paid role, at no extra cost) and 3 paid 30-day internships. After you’re hired, or not

  1. What happens if I’m not placed?

The heart of any guarantee. Ask for the exact time limit, and what you owe once it passes.

    a deadline and a clear ₹0.

    Our answer, in writing

That’s the Job Guarantee Program: not placed after completing the program? You pay ₹0. If you don’t accept a qualifying job within 12 months of signing the agreement, the main fee is never due, and you keep your registration refund, your certificate and the core modules. An offer you accept within those 12 months still counts if you join within 90 days after they end.

    • The main fee is never due
    • You keep your refund
    • You keep your certificate

    In writingAgreement 5.1Agreement 2.4

  2. When does the main fee start, and how is it collected?

Know the trigger (an offer, your joining date or your first salary), how many payments there are and how they’re taken.

payments only after your first salary, a fixed number of them.

    Our answer, in writing

Only after you join a qualifying job: an offer letter alone never makes anything payable. Within 7 days of your first working day you set up UPI AutoPay, and the first payment comes after your first salary arrives, on a date you choose between the 5th and the 15th. Then 9 monthly payments: ₹5,999 on Go, ₹7,999 on Plus or ₹9,999 on Infinity, with no interest and nothing added. How pay after placement works

    • Only after you’re hired
    • After your first salary
    • 9 monthly payments, no interest

    In writingAgreement 4.1Agreement 4.2

  3. What if I lose the job?

Layoffs happen. Some contracts keep billing you anyway.

payments pause while you’re out of work.

    Our answer, in writing

Tell us within 7 days. Your payments pause, and they never run while you’re out of work. They restart in your next full-time job in the field (data science, analytics, AI/ML, BI or software with data work) at any pay, or in any other full-time job paid at or above your minimum salary assured, until all 9 are made, and if you go 24 months in a row without one, the rest is cancelled.

    • Payments pause
    • They restart in your next job in the field, or any other full-time job at your minimum or above
    • Cancelled after 24 months without one

  4. Who do I complain to, and how fast must they reply?

A named grievance officer and a reply deadline show a program expects to be held to its word.

a named person, a deadline and your legal rights spelled out.

    Our answer, in writing

Write to support@skillcept.online, or at any time to our grievance officer, Ruhan Singla, who acknowledges a complaint within 48 hours and resolves it within 15 days. You keep every right the law gives you, including the National Consumer Helpline (1915). Our grievance officer

Red flags

Walk away, or at least slow down, if you see any of these:

  • Claims that everyone gets selected or placed. India’s guidelines on coaching ads treat claims like these as misleading.2
  • A loan agreement or a credit check, or instalments that start before you have a job.
  • No written definition of a qualifying job or a minimum salary.
  • Refunds “at our discretion”, or with no deadline.
  • Being asked to pay before you’ve read the contract.
  • Calls that won’t stop, or a counsellor who won’t put answers in writing.

Hold us to the same list. There’s no lender or credit check (Agreement 1.3). The minimum salary is a number in the contract (Agreement 2.3). The refund has a deadline in days (Refund 2.2). And you can read the full agreement before you pay; what your plan includes reaches your email before you pay, too (Terms 3.1).

Will someone call me?

No. We don’t make sales calls, and we never ask for your number to call you back. Ask Prism, our AI assistant, any time: it answers from our terms and names the clause. A person from our team takes over when you ask, from 10 AM to 7 PM IST, every day.

  • No sales calls, ever
  • Answers any time

Your rights

India’s Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued guidelines on coaching ads that have applied since 13 November 2024. They cover misleading claims about selections, ranks and job security, for online and offline coaching alike, and testimonials need the person’s express consent.1 The CCPA has acted on them: by March 2025 it had imposed ₹77.6 lakh in penalties on 24 coaching institutes.3

If a program doesn’t keep its word, the National Consumer Helpline (1915) can help. Through it, the Department of Consumer Affairs got ₹1.56 crore refunded to more than 600 students in the education sector.4
